Freedom Forum 2009: Washington DC, USA

We are delighted to announce that the IYDU Freedom Forum will this year take place in Washington DC, USA. The event commences on Thursday 25 June and will conclude on Sunday 28 June 2009. This event is being kindly hosted by the College Republicans.

Participation Fee and Delegate Numbers

There is no cost for attending the IYDU Freedom Forum or the various seminars, drinks receptions and meals forming the official IYDU Freedom Forum. IYDU member organisations are encouraged to bring as many participants as they wish to the meeting in Washington DC. There is no limit on the number of participants that can attend from a single country or member organisation.

Arrivals and Departures

We suggest that you arrive on the afternoon of Thursday 25 June and depart on Sunday 28 June. There will be no formal programme on Sunday.

Getting to Washington DC

Washington DC is well serviced with flights from across the globe. The cost of travel to the IYDU Freedom Forum is up to individual delegates.

Visas

Please note that the Visa Waiver Programme (VWP) is now electronic. Citizens of the following countries eligible for this scheme are: Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and the United Kingdom.

The ESTA (Electronic System for Travel Authorisation) became mandatory on 12 January 2009. If you want to apply for an electronic travel authority, please visit the ESTA website, at least 72 hours in advance of your journey, at: https://esta.cbp.dhs.gov If you require a visa invitation letter please ensure that you complete all passport information on the registration form. It is the responsibility of individual participants to ensure they have applied for the correct visa. IYDU nor the College Republicans takes any responsibility for you applying or being granted the correct visa for travel to the US for the Freedom Forum.
